the rank market on the first day of my trip to Zimbabwe earlier this year

When I arrived in Zimbabwe (Bulawayo – my birth town) for a series of weaving workshops there with 2 different groups of women weavers, I was taken to the rank market, where a certain pride was shown by the people selling tomatoes and sorghum and so on. It immediately reminded me of the way produce and objects are often proudly and beautifully displayed in Japan – like the fruit in the second photo above…
