post night-walk soft-vandalism

Monday, January 31st, 2011

I was inspired by my walk to give some public space a bit of attention.

I attached a paper napkin to the hand-rail outside the SIWA (the only local grocery/everything store in Fiskars). It was GONE in the morning.

I even said thank you very much on it, and I wrote the word art…

nightwalk 2

Monday, January 31st, 2011

So I had previously planned to try and use one specific building in the village for some kinda installation. This was not possible due to unsafe conditions within. This nightwalk was about trying to reimagine the whole thought process I had previously gone through. In the form of more notes to self.

So the pictures above go along with the sound clip below:

So, I’ve started to see this process of ice-layering as kinda along the lines of Bonsai. But faster. Tending to something…

new snow-proof studio, and paper candle holders get candles

So I finally built a slipshod cover for the work that kept getting damaged by the snow falling on it. A la Afrique.

I’m so excited by these extreme objects. They are really really beautiful.

And they’re intrinsically doomed.

paperlamps grow into more beautiful forms

By adding layer after layer of water to these shapes, they develop an amazing surface texture, and also they change shape subtly. Then of course they also get icicles, which is beautiful.

puma does plastic – and apologies for lagging behind, I’ve been v v v busy

Saturday, January 29th, 2011

So, this is the process I went through a few days ago to transform or ‘tune’ some PUMA suedes…

here’s a link to my Finnish distributor Outi’s blog – for pics of the PUMA event:

I love PUMA. And Popot.

PUMA days

Tuesday, January 25th, 2011

I have a great relationship with PUMA in SA, and the Finnish PUMA peeps very kindly agreed to also be my friends. They sponsored a whole lotta winter wanmies for my working pleasure here – because I’m working outside so much, I needed some gear. So, there is a small party for press and stuff on Thursday night at a very cool sneaker shop in Helsinki called Popot Shop, where some ‘tuned’ puma shoes will be shown and we’ll have some fun.
Um, I am tuning them today.
